Beamsplitters are optical components used to split input light into two separate parts, mainly include cube polarization beamsplitter, plate polarization beamsplitter and cube non-polarization beamsplitter.
Cube (non-)polarization beamsplitter consists of a pair of right angle prisms cemented together with a dielectric (non-)polarization beamsplitter coating on the hypotenuse of one of the prisms. An anti-reflection coating has been applied to each outside surface of the beamsplitter to achieve less than 0.2% reflection per surface.
Plate beamsplitters are used for most laser applications as they exhibit low absorption. And the performance of a beamsplitter is mainly dependent on the coating specifications.
